Serves Four people
Ingredients
- 1 liter milk (about a quart)
- 100g of short-grain white rice (dessert rice)
- 1 pod of vanilla (split in halve), or two small packages of vanilla sugar
- a pinch of saffron
- 50g sugar
1. Pour the milk in a casserole. Add the rice, the vanilla pod or vanilla sugar and the saffron.
2. Bring this to a boil.
3. Reduce the heat to a slow simmer for about 40 min. while stirring from time to time.
4. Add the sugar 5 min. before the end of the cooking time.
5. Divide the pudding into separate bowls and let cool. It will form a film on top, but that’s the way it should be.
6. Serve with brown sugar on top. Each rice pudding lover can add as much sugar as they like.
I love it, and hope you will too!
