Ramstein Air Base Weather Forecast for Mar 3, 2010
Winter hasn’t given up yet. We are expecting snow on Friday and Saturday! Hopefully the military weather forecasters are wrong. They usually aren’t. 
This has been the strangest winter we can remember. It was +8C in early January, then the temperatures plummeted to -18C a few weeks later. We’ve had more snow than ever too. The last few days it was starting to feel like Spring was here. It was +14.5C last week! So back to snow in the forecast is a bit annoying but at least we know it can’t last very long….can it???
Vino Cheapo
Vino Cheapo
One thing we do like at our local Kaufland grocery store, is the “Vino Cheapo” as we call it! It’s 1.29 Euro for one liter. That’s about $1.75 per liter! You would think it’s awful tasting wine but it’s actually rather pleasant for a vin de table.
We did tell you our trick serving Vino Cheapo in the nice Riedel wine glasses. We normally don’t do that as we have accidentally broken six of the good glasses over the course of two years. Naturally we’ve been afraid to use the good glasses daily; however, we’ve been pretty careful due to paranoia, and haven’t broken one in a few years now!
Beautiful Sky

Coming home from the grocery store, we noticed the sky was very unusual. This is one of our neighbor’s houses with the hills behind us. The hill is about 300 feet above us and it is covered with mixed forest. About half of the trees are coniferous trees which keeps the forest looking green all year. When the other half of the trees get their leaves, it’s very very green!
Having the iPhone is quite handy to take these spur-of-the-moment pictures. We have a really nice Canon EOS 1Ds MkIII camera, but it’s quite heavy and not something you have with you in the grocery store! We thought you’d enjoy the picture too!
